Dry interior partitions, ceilings in air-conditioned spaces and internal office walls gain nothing from a moisture resistant core. Specifying it everywhere inflates the material budget and, worse, can create a false sense that the wall is water-resistant — which leads to membranes being omitted where they are actually needed.
A 10–20% board premium is negligible against the cost of rebuilding a bathroom wall. But paying that premium in a dry corridor is pure waste. Match the panel to the moisture exposure first, then match the whole assembly to the panel.
