WHOLESALE PROCUREMENT / EXPORT
Wholesale Gypsum Board
A Better Gypsum Board Quote Starts With a Complete Packing Specification
For distributors and construction projects, gypsum board procurement is a logistics and quality-control problem as well as a unit-price comparison. Thickness, exact panel size, pallet count, edge protection and moisture management determine whether a shipment arrives suitable for immediate installation.
Buyer focus: Before ordering, confirm product type, construction details and document-specific performance. Dimensions and optional classifications shown here require individual quotation and verification.
Do not confuse metric and inch-based board sizes
1200 x 2400 mm, 1200 x 2700 mm and 1220 x 2440 mm are examples of commonly requested formats, but they are different physical dimensions. Similarly, 12.5 mm is not an exact synonym for 1/2 inch, and 15 mm is not an exact synonym for 5/8 inch. Confirm the drawing dimension and actual manufactured tolerance before preparing a price comparison.
Calculate project quantity in square metres first
A 1200 x 2400 mm sheet covers 2.88 m² gross; a 1220 x 2440 mm sheet covers 2.9768 m² gross. These values exclude cutting waste and project openings. Convert the bill of quantities to sheet counts using the exact purchased size, then add a rational cutting allowance according to layout. Do not simply divide project area by a nominal sheet size when the plan includes many narrow strips or door returns.
Packaging and loading deserve their own approval
Confirm sheets per pallet, pallet dimensions, pallet gross weight, protective corners, strapping method and handling limitations. Container capacity cannot be calculated from board area alone: actual mass, container payload, loading method and country regulations all matter. Request a loading plan and pallet photographs rather than a vague claim of maximum container quantity.
Keep dry from dispatch to installation
The Gypsum Association recommends protected dry storage; early site delivery and wet environments raise damage risk. Ask about factory covered storage, container condensation precautions, dry pallets and a delivery schedule close to installation. Stacks should be properly supported flat; workers should not store unsupported sheets leaning on edge where they can fall.
Define the documents required for repeat orders
Useful records include product label/code, dimension and thickness tolerance sheet, batch identification, packing list, pallet photos and product-specific test documents. Large customers benefit from agreeing inspection sampling and damage-reporting procedures before the first container ships.
Technical Selection Checklist
Use this checklist to turn a general inquiry into a buildable and comparable purchase specification.
| Item | What to confirm | Buyer action |
|---|---|---|
| Board identity | Type, dimension, thickness, edge profile | Obtain approval sample and specification |
| Shipping data | Pieces/pallet, kg/pallet, packing size | Use actual load-plan measurements |
| Inspection package | Batch details, photos, test documents | Agree acceptance and claim workflow |
Frequently Asked Questions
How many gypsum boards fit in a 40-foot container?
There is no reliable universal figure. The board thickness, density, pallet height, payload and loading configuration must all be established.
Can boards be stored outdoors under plastic?
Outdoor covering is not a substitute for enclosed dry storage; moisture and condensation can still damage the panels.
Request a Project-Based Quotation
Send your required board type, dimensions, quantities, destination market and the applicable building-system specification. For performance-critical projects, include the test or assembly reference. We can then review the requested specification and confirm availability, testing documents and export packing details before pricing.
